Happy Valentine’s Day!
In our classrooms, we teach our students about holidays – what they mean, when they occur, what the associated items are, what words are used, and how interactions with others are a part.
We designed this task which has Valentine hearts matching by color. For the beginning student who is learning to work left to right, follow a sequence of steps, focus attention, use a pincer grasp, and problem solve how to fit materials into a slot, the steps are to select an envelope from the container on the left, squeeze the clothespin to pull it off, and then place the envelope and the clothespin in the correct openings in the box lid on their right.
These theme-based materials can be individualized for students working on other objectives. For example, we might set up the task differently for children who are working on color matching skills but use the same envelopes and clothespins.
